Privacy Policy
How Atlas Runtime Labs handles your information across our apps, including Dynamis.
Last updated: June 1, 2026
The short version: Atlas Runtime Labs does not collect, store, or sell your personal data. Our apps run locally on your device. If you choose to enable cloud sync, your data is stored in your own Google Drive — we never receive it, and we have no servers that hold it.
01Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Atlas Runtime Labs ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with our software, including the Dynamis reading app (collectively, the "Apps"). It applies to the Apps and to this website.
Our products are designed to be local-first: they function on your device without an account and without sending your content to us. We have intentionally built our Apps so that we do not operate servers that store your personal data.
02Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information from you. We have no user accounts, no backend database of users, and no analytics pipeline. Specifically, we do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, advertising identifiers, or any record of what you read.
The information the Apps work with is created and held by you, either on your device or in your own cloud storage, as described in the sections below.
03Data stored on your device
Dynamis stores the following locally on your device, in the app's private storage, so that it can function:
- The book files you import (EPUB and PDF) and their extracted cover images;
- Library metadata such as titles, authors, categories, and tags;
- Your reading progress, chapter read-state, and bookmarks;
- Highlights and notes you create;
- App and per-book settings (fonts, themes, layout, and similar preferences).
This data stays on your device. It is removed when you delete the data within the app or uninstall the app, except for anything you have chosen to back up to your own Google Drive (see below).
04Optional Google Drive sync
Dynamis offers an optional backup-and-sync feature using Google Drive. It is off by default and only runs after you explicitly connect a Google account.
When enabled, the app writes a single backup file (named dynamis_backup.json) containing your library metadata, reading progress, highlights, categories, and tags. This file is stored in the hidden Application Data Folder of your own Google Drive — a private, app-specific area of your Drive.
- The backup lives in your Google account, under your control.
- Atlas Runtime Labs has no server in this process and never receives a copy of your data.
- The app communicates directly between your device and Google's Drive API over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- Your actual book files are not uploaded — only the metadata needed to restore your library state across devices.
05Google account information
To provide Drive sync, the app requests your permission for the following Google OAuth scopes:
drive.appdata— to read and write Dynamis's own backup file in the hidden Application Data Folder. The app cannot see or access any other files in your Drive.userinfo.emailanduserinfo.profile— to display which Google account is currently connected, so you can confirm you're syncing to the right account.
Your email address and the authorization tokens are stored only on your device, and only to keep you signed in and show the connected account. They are not transmitted to Atlas Runtime Labs. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
06Device permissions
The Apps request only the permissions needed for features you use:
- Files & storage — to let you import EPUB/PDF files and to save your library and covers.
- Internet access — used solely for the optional Google Drive sync. With sync disabled, the app works fully offline.
- Biometric / device credential — only if you enable the optional app-lock feature; authentication is handled by your device and never leaves it.
07No ads, analytics, or tracking
The Apps contain no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking SDKs. We do not profile you, fingerprint your device, or use advertising identifiers. There are no embedded social or marketing trackers.
08Data sharing & disclosure
Because we do not collect your data, we have nothing to sell, rent, or share. We do not transfer personal information to third parties. The only external service involved is Google Drive, and only when you choose to enable sync — in which case your data goes to your own Google account, governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
09Data retention & deletion
You are always in control of your data:
- On-device data: deleted when you remove items in the app or uninstall it.
- Disconnect sync: disconnecting Google Drive in the app removes the stored tokens from your device.
- Delete the cloud backup: the app's "Reset cloud data" action deletes the
dynamis_backup.jsonfile from your Drive. - Revoke access: you can revoke the app's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
10Security
Your data remains on your device and within your own Google account. Communication with Google's APIs uses encrypted HTTPS connections, and the sign-in flow uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE — the app holds no confidential client secret. While no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, keeping data local by design minimizes exposure.
11Children's privacy
The Apps are not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect personal data from anyone, no such data is gathered from children either.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here, and continued use of the Apps after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
